Japan’s High-Growth Postwar Period
The Role of Economic Plans
Shinji Yoshioka and Hirofumi Kawasaki examine Japan’s high-growth period from the mid-1950s to the early 1970s. Fourteen chapters cover economic plans, fiscal and monetary policy, industrial policy, trade liberalization, infrastructure and human resource development. Two technical appendices address growth theory and business-cycle measurement. The focus is indicative planning: coordinating policies and providing guidance for private enterprise in a market economy. The Armenian edition follows ESRI Research Note No.27, published in August 2016 and labelled preliminary.
