Balkar communities are documented in Kabardino-Balkaria. Karachay-Balkar is a shared linguistic name, while the people profiles remain distinct.[13]
Balkars and Karachays share the Turkic language conventionally called Karachay-Balkar, with regional varieties. Language unity does not require merging their people profiles.[13]
Fieldwork from 2000–2005 documents Sunni Hanafi traditions and varied religious practices among Balkar communities. It does not establish a current whole-people percentage.[6]
No comparable people-wide religious percentage is established here. Regional survey results are available separately, where covered.
