Industry overview

ANKA is Turkish Aerospace’s medium-altitude long-endurance UAV family, including ANKA-S. The manufacturer describes autonomous flight, several payload configurations and associated ground systems, alongside serial production and fleets in end-user inventories. Shared engineering and support infrastructure with AKSUNGUR and ANKA III does not make these the same aircraft or imply identical performance.[7]

PD170: ANKA, AKSUNGUR and TB3

Documented recordManufacturer announcement

TEI’s V2025/2 brochure dates PD170 first flights on ANKA to 27 December 2018, AKSUNGUR to 4 October 2021 and TB3 to 27 October 2023. These are platform-specific engine milestones. They do not support treating PD170 as a verified fleet-wide TB2 replacement for Rotax.[222]

Development & production

Turkish Aerospace dates rollout to 16 July 2010 and first flight to 30 December 2010. The same product record places the ANKA-S production contract in October 2013. Month-only precision is preserved for that contract; rollout, flight and production agreement remain separate milestones.[7]

TEI’s 20 July 2026 release explicitly identifies ANKA among PD170-powered aircraft. A May 2022 Kazakhstan memorandum separately envisaged assembly, maintenance, technology transfer and training. These sources establish supplier and industrial relationships; the memorandum does not prove that a production line opened or that all planned transfers were completed.[15][21]

Versions & programme scope

ANKA-S remains within the ANKA family. The published dimensions and capacities describe the current family page, not every historical configuration. Common avionics architecture and ground systems with other programmes are recorded as engineering continuity, without implying interchangeable airframes or acceptance histories.[7]

Export relationships

Kazakhstan

The May 2022 memorandum envisaged ANKA assembly and maintenance in Kazakhstan, technology transfer and staff training. An intended industrial line must remain distinct from evidence that a line has opened or produced aircraft.[21]
