So-called “Western Azerbaijan Community” Monitor
A record of meetings, educational activity, heritage and church claims, and public statements concerning Armenia.
Why this monitor matters
The so-called “Western Azerbaijan Community” uses the term “Western Azerbaijan” for the territory of present-day Armenia. Its public campaign places claims concerning Armenia’s territory, history and cultural heritage within an organized program of publications and outreach. The organization claims succession from an association founded in 1989 and reports formal adoption of its name on 3 August 2022. Earlier reports also use the WAC name; they do not establish legal continuity.
The campaign has direct state support. In his 24 December 2022 address at the organization’s headquarters, Azerbaijan’s president described the provision of its building and called for international conferences, diaspora cooperation and digital publications. The documented record also includes school and university activity and the transmission of Community documents through Azerbaijan’s UN mission. Tracking these activities together makes it possible to examine how claims about Armenia circulate across political, educational, diplomatic and cultural settings, and how their wording and reach develop over time. A dated, linked record helps distinguish an individual statement from an institutional initiative, and a reported total from a documented activity.
What the dashboard covers
The Historical Dashboard presents organizational records by year through 2022. The Current Dashboard monitors activity from 3 August 2022, with key reference events above and below the chart. Separate dashboards below show each topic with its own filters, records and sources.
October 2026 has been reviewed, and November coverage runs through 4 November 2026. The record reflects sources located in this review; publication dates can differ from event dates, and gaps do not establish inactivity.

Counting notes
The historical chart includes the full 2022 organizational chronology. Current activity is monitored from 3 August 2022; key reference events are shown above and below the monthly charts and are not added to their totals.
Contemporary records concern the body named in each source; they do not establish WAC’s legal continuity.
Current Dashboard
3 August 2022–Nov 2026Counting notes
Current monitoring starts on 3 August 2022, the reported adoption of the current name and charter. Key reference events appear above and below this chart. Other organizational events remain in the history section; reference events do not increase the activity totals.
Contemporary records concern the body named in each source; they do not establish WAC’s legal continuity.
Each bar stacks the displayed category counts for one month. Categories use different units and may overlap, so the full bar is not a count of unique events. Catalog months are estimated from image-file timestamps.
Report counts and institution counts are kept separate. Event bars count source reports of meetings, conferences, presentations, exhibitions and community activities. University and school bars count institution appearances by month; institution totals count distinct institutions.
Source charts use publication dates where known. When the publication date is unconfirmed, a documented event date is used and labelled. Institution charts retain their reviewed activity or report months.
Publications containing both appear in each section; the totals overlap.
Red warning badges above each monthly bar show the threat-record count. These counts are excluded from the bar heights.
Counts describe the collected records, not a complete inventory of activity. A gap does not establish inactivity.
